A fine video tribute to one of the heroes of the Virginia Tech massacre:

Story: Courage Under Fire

Have you ever wondered how you would react to an emergency situation? A real emergency? All of us have been tested. But most people haven't been tested with the ultimate test of all: What if you could save the lives of others by giving up your own?

On April 16, 2007, Liviu Librescu was given the ultimate test.

He was able to save his own life but some of his students would die or he could give his life, but many young students - with their whole life ahead of them - would be spared the murderous weapon of a fellow classmate.

Librescu passed the test and gave up his life. He took four bullets on that day, while he held the door to his classroom closed so his students could escape...

I have no doubt that when G-d reviewed the book of Professor Librescu's life, he was given a place of honor. Liviu Librescu died keeping the greatest commandments in both the Torah and the New Testament.

"Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his
friends." (New Testament)

"He who saves one life is as if he saves the entire world." (Torah)

G-d willing that we should all have the courage of this man.

Ew, did you really just censor "God"?

The use of Gd or G-d is for those members of my family and friends who are Orthodox. The full spelling is considered disrespectful, as the Deity should not be named. When communicating about an issue of import to my Christian family and friends, I use the full spelling. No, I don't censor, but I do respect the traditions of my family and friends. Since many readers of Solomonia practice traditional worship rites, I chose to respect those reader's values. I don't consider that either censorship, or political correctness. I view it as honoring the beliefs of those for whom I have a deep respect.

These people you, uh, respect, should play a real fun game called "Wake the Fuck Up, We're Not in the Middle Ages." If "God" were real (which you have to be tripping if you actually believe there is a giant invisible dude in the sky who gives a crap about your little life) then he must be a total narcissistic freak to forbid people from using his name. These fuck-ups totally deserve no respect for holding back civilization and should take a sharp knife and remove themselves from the gene pool ASAP.

Sounds like Liviu Librescu, who this post is about, believed in God.

Dr. Librescu was a brave and unworldly-minded person with a heart of gold.
In addition, he was so energetic and enthusiastic on his research and education. He was born to be a researcher and teacher with a heart of gold.
We don't know why this kind of tragedy happened to him. We don't understand the reason right now, but I am sure that there is a God's will.
I am sure that he is in a heaven now and he will remain as a hero to everybody.
God will bless Mrs. Librescu and his sons and will be with them.
