I received this via email. Nice to read something sensible coming from Europe. The article in the extended entry is from Germany. The emailer writes:
I work with a [journalist from a small European country] who writes a lot about Gaza/West Bank. We've done many stories on Palestinian suffering.
For a year she has tried to get her paper to write a story about Sderot or Ashkelon but they refuse...
This article by a German or Swiss journalist also tells the part of the story not mention in the world press (never saw anything about it in the UK press):
"Like all Islamic terrorists, the Hamas ideologues love death -- even the death of their own women and children, when it serves their insane purpose"
The story of Hamas use of Human shields will be told as well... eventually.
The Whole Truth

Sonntagsblick, March 9, 2008, page 27 - Translated from the Original German
Grave pictures from the Gaza Strip are circulating in the network of world media. A glance at the fate of the Palestinians: dead children in their fathers' arms, offered up to the cameras like sacrifices; a dead baby, shrouded in the dark-green flag of Hamas, on a colorful Oriental carpet, surrounded by men and two young boys who pushed themselves forward in between the adults' legs.
For many years, and now again, at ever-shorter intervals, the message of such photos and films keeps reaching us: Israel kills children! That is the truth! Pictures don't lie!
But is it really true? Do the images presented to us on a weekly and often daily basis on TV and in the newspapers really tell the truth? The whole truth?
From the Gaza Strip, Hamas is systematically shelling Sderot, a town in Israel. Up to 50 times a day, the inhabitants had to run for shelter from the onslaught of Palestinian rockets. Admittedly, very few people are killed; nonetheless, the shelling prevents any kind of normal life. Of the 20,000 inhabitants of the town, several thousand have already fled. The ones who remain are the poor, who cannot afford to journey.
In the Gaza Strip, the rockets are being fired from between residential buildings, next to schools and hospitals. The cynical intention of Hamas is to turn its own people into targets for Israeli counter-attacks.
Images of civilians who have been killed - especially of women and children who have been killed - are part of the psychological warfare waged by the Islamic organizations Hamas and Hezbollah. In the struggle to turn world public opinion against Israel, these sad pictures are the terrorists' strongest weapon.
Lately, the 120,000 inhabitants of the city of Ashkelon have also begun to be shelled with rockets of Iranian origin, which crossed the then-open border between Gaza and Egypt six weeks ago.
These missiles as well, which are much more dangerous than the homemade rockets which are being used to make Sderot uninhabitable, are provoking a response from the Israeli army. The defense of Ashkelon with bombs and grenades will also strike down civilians, including women and children. Because Hamas has intentionally built its rocket launchers in the midst of its own people.
Like all Islamic terrorists, the Hamas ideologues love death -- even the death of their own women and children, when it serves their insane purpose.
Oh yes, it is true; terrible things are happening in the Gaza Strip. People have no hope of work, no hope of education; unless humanitarian organizations send in supplies, they must go hungry. The circumstances in the Gaza Strip are catastrophic, since Israel sealed it off. But is Israel at fault for this misery?
When the Gaza Strip's borders were still open, Hamas used to smuggle suicide bombers into Israel. Since the closure of the border, Israelis can travel more commonly by train and by bus, sit in their cafes, dance in their discos - unless they live in Sderot or Ashkelon; unless they attend a religious school in Jerusalem, where an Israeli-Palestinian killed eight Jewish schoolchildren on Friday. Jubilant Hamas supporters celebrated the assassin, who was shot down by an Israeli officer. Hamas and Hezbollah have gained a new martyr.
What should Israel do? When the border to the Gaza Strip is opened, in order to let in humanitarian supplies for the Palestinian population, the Hamas terrorists shoot at the Israeli soldiers will accompany their convoy. When Israel refuses to open the borders, news of starving Palestinians are broadcast around the world.
This is exactly what Hamas, Hezbollah, Iran, Israel's Arab enemies are trying to do: to foment hatred of the Jewish State, throughout the world, with horrible pictures and shocking news, which they themselves are provoking and producing -- at the expense of their own people, their own mothers and children.
Not perfect -- this article discusses border closures in a way that I think is inaccurate (they're never really "sealed off" -- supplies are allowed in), but still, more of this please.
