More on the shameful episode:

Phyllis Chesler writes: Hillary vs. Sarah, America vs. Iran, and the Film About Stonings in Iran That Ahmadinejad Needs To See

The plot thickens but there is a bottom line; there always is. Obama is the one who decided not to send anyone of rank to stand with the Jews who are opposing Amadinejad's genocidal and nuclear policies. The Jews in charge did not lean on Obama to come himself, (which would have made sense) but instead, no doubt under some unimaginably heavy pressure, dis-invited Palin. What? Allow Palin to take on the Iranian Monster on prime-time TV and win even more votes? New York Jewish votes? Women's votes? Anything but that.

To cover themselves, the Conference of Presidents of Major Jewish Organizations now claim to have dis-invited all politicians; too "partisan," too distracting from the matter at hand.

I'll say...

Israpundit has posted some of J-Street's crowing over their "success" (and let's be clear, I'm sure the real culprit for politicizing this was the National Jewish Democratic Council, not the still-fringe in all but funding, J-Street): "Obama chose politics rather than the national interest". They also have John McCain's statement, here: Statement By John McCain On The "Stop Iran" Rally

Update: Soccer Dad has a good round up here: Diss-inviting palin

Israel Matzav has some emails indicating it wasn't Malcolm Hoenlein's idea to cancel Palin: McCain campaign statement on disinviting of Sarah Palin from anti-Ahmadinejad rally; UPDATE: It wasn't the Conference's idea

Contentions notes that Joe Biden was issued an invitation when Hillary canceled, but had a prior engagement (fair enough on that): Biden's Refusal to Appear At Iran Protest Caused the Disinvitation of Palin

Also: Hot Air: Wonderful: Under pressure from the left, organizers disinvite Palin from anti-Iran rally

Nice that J street is suppording ellison, who until he decided to run for national office was a nation of islam supporter. that should do a lot of good for the jews.

Both McCain and his wife and Obama paid their respects in NYC at ground zero of the 9/11 sneak attack.

So why can't Palin and Hillary or whomever protest the islamofascist regime of iran?

This will backfire on the Democrats.

Jews who care about Israel will see once again what kind of fair-weather friends Democrats are today.

to the Iranians, this furnishes enough proof that the US can be divided along political lines to be very encouraged indeed. The true fallout from this will be a more intransigent and bolder Iran.

As for disappointment, my expectations regarding Obama were already low, but my expectations from H. Clinton were much higher. I assumed she was someone who understood these matters.

"This will backfire on the Democrats.

This will not backfire for the leftists and Obama because Jews are the dumbest people on the planet, constantly putting every stupid cause ahead of our own self-interest and survival.

This event is yet another clear indication not of a political event, but a collective pathology.

Any Jew who votes for Obama is complicit in their own destruction. Perhaps there needs to be a redefining of "who is a Jew." The concept of "Jew" has become so flexible that it encompasses those who are in the process of leaving or who have left the group, not unlike Secretary of Defense Casper Weinberger, Secretary of State Kissinger, Secretary of State Madeline Alright or billionaire Georg Soros. In each case the burden of Judaism was jettisoned for power on the world political stage. So short-sighted, so uneducated as to the value of their heritage, they turned their backs on those who gave them life. Can their be anything less valuable to this world's survival than disloyalty for no particular reason other than personal gain to those who protected you, who gave you such deep roots in this chaotic world? It smacks of psychopathy or ignorance or the toxic combination of both.

Perhaps there needs to be a redefining of "who is a Jew."

Jerry you have hit the nail on the head and to add to this there needs to be a public outcry when the actions of one supposed Jew is attributed to all Jews; the collective guilt syndrome.
Soros who aided the Nazis and has decried any connection to Jews and things Jewish is a useful bat used by "some of my best friends" people to swing against Jews.
There a host of Chomskys, Ronnie Kasrils, Pappes et al out there and the list should be publicized that they do not speak in my name.
Maybe those more conservative American Jews can write Palin a letter expressing their regret at the behaviour of those "Democrat" hypocrites.

I find it shocking that you say that "perhaps we need to re-define who is a Jew." We don't just excomunicate people becasue we don't believe the same as them.

If you want to talk about who can be a Jew, bring some solid halachic reasoning before you spout off a bunch of lashon hara.

Daoud, what does Islam do to Muslims who abandon Islam, who betray Islam, who write books of fiction on Islam (Satanic Verses)?

Eddie,

The comment was about Judaism, not Islam.

And remember, it's D-A-V-i-d. Maybe you and Arabian can split the English tutor.
