Two gt. uncles of mine settled in Pictou NS in the 1820s. My maiden name was Robley.
Their names were William & John Robley. They came from Cumberland not Scotland. Robley is not a Scottish name, although one or two did stray across the border.
I have written a short biography of John Robley & am working on William. (see my web-site: www.robley.org.uk )
I am related to all the Robleys in Pictou, so was struck by your letter.
