The San Francisco Jewish Film Festival (SFJFF) is back in the news (here is a search for previous posts) with a devastating video that's been produced exposing what happened out there a few months back when they decided that showing a Rachel Corrie propaganda film and hosting Cindy Corrie in an event sponsored by two anti-Israel organizations were an appropriate use of donor funds. Here's the story: New video continues campaign against 'Rachel' programming. And here's the video:
Something similar to the San Fran Film Fest. Theater J at the DCJCC (Washinton DC area), supported by the local Jewish Federation, is involved in political activism--signing on as a Participating organization at the J Street Conference and planning cultureal events for the conference. When news of Josh Healey's poetry emerged, the event in which he participated was canceled. Theater J also presented the reading of Churchill's anti-Semitic/anti-Israel play, "Seven Jewish children."
I felt sorry for that guy giving the five-minute speech. And also for that older man from the audience making his comment--although he probably should've posed a question, to prevent them from having a "legitimate" reason to shut him up.
I would never have had the nerve. And five minutes, as that speaker noted, was an insult, a travesty.
What shocked me was that, when the pro-Israel speaker mentioned about the tunnels, a known fact about Hamas' operations, many in the audience shouted "lies!" Are these people kidding? Do they really think those tunnels don't exist? It's as if even the substantive, valid points that Israel makes aren't permissible.
Maybe there is a new pattern: Left-wing, anti-Zionist organizers have apparently learned that putting the word "Jewish" in the title of their events, and having some Jews there as window dressing, successfully camouflages what they're really about. The events then seem as if they were organized by open-minded Jews willing to hear other points of view.
don't feel sorry for me-- the response was pretty much what I expected except for the number of people in the audience that joined in to the anti-Israel hatred. Plus, I've been out on the streets plenty of times facing this same type of idiocy (though not with a spotlight on me!).
It was worth it, to help expose the attempts to subvert our Jewish community institutions.

This video records for all to see what the islamofascist-phillic hoards are like.
