I wouldn't ordinarily post this, but there was quite a bit of interest in the fact that terror supporter George Galloway was in town Monday night raising money at the Palestinian Cultural Center for Peace in Allston. I wouldn't ordinarily post it because the piece, written by Jillian T. for the Allston-Brighton Tab, is so full of nonsense it would be irresponsible of a blog to post it without a full point by point fisking -- something I don't have the time, or more to the point, the stomach to do. What the author did was simply give Galloway and his supporters the "mic" while she acted as a completely credulous stenographer for every claim -- from her portrayal of the Gaza conflict (no, most of the casualties were not civilians) to the absurdly repeated claim, easily debunked on film, that Galloway does not support Hamas. There are five cursory sentences of response from the Israeli Consulate, while there's not a word from the significant number of protesters outside.

Here's the article: British MP tells Allston audience its time end to Gaza Strip blockade.

Following their journalistically negligent puff-piece on the Boston visit of George Galloway, the Allston-Brighton Tab has provided a space for Dexter to write a guest column, here in full: Galloway is not really a man of peace Judging from last... Read More

Maybe Jillian T. is just a naïve dope, but Nappy always loves to give the benefit of the doubt.

Poor Jillian must have thought she was in Gaza and did her job the way all reporters there do, at least the ones who live to tell the tale.

Cf. Tom Friedman's account in From Beirut to Jerusalem ofthe sleepless night he spent sweating bullets, having been summoned by Arafat for a meeting, the night before the Fatah terrorists arrived at his hotel to bring him to the appointment at a secret location that wasn't Dick Cheney's bunker. (As frightened -- scared witless is more like it -- as Friedman was by the prospect of being called on the carpet by Arafat, he, oddly enough, never had any qualms or reservations about being called into the Qiryah, the IDF's HQ, or to any Israeli official's office.)

Nappy didn't link to Friedman's 20 year old book, but humbly suggests that if you want to buy it to click on Sol's Amazon link.

The article was also re-published verbatim in the Metrowest News. Both papers should be contacted about this despicable libel.

Unfortunately, I couldn't find contact info. for "reporter" Jillian T...

I, personally, am amazed and exuberant that American media are finally beginning to present a fair and balanced view on issues in Palestine and Israel. For too long, Palestinians have been demonized as terrorists, while Israel is held up as the beacon of democracy in the Middle East. Palestine is no more a terror state than Israel is a democratic state. Palestinians defending themselves against an occupation are not terrorists, even when the violence is perpetrated against Israeli citizens (for lack of access to military targets). Israel is an ethnocracy that bestows full rights and benefits only to Jewish citizens, while limiting resources available to Muslim and Christian Israelis. I hope and pray that more mainstream US media will bravely take up the mantle of balanced reporting, like the Allston-Brighton Tab and the Metrowest papers.

Sincerely,
Stephanie
