Mosab Hassan Yousef will not be deported:
The son of a Hamas founder who became a Christian and an Israeli spy will be granted US asylum after he passes a routine background check, an immigration judge ruled Wednesday.
Mosab Hassan Yousef got the news during a 15-minute deportation hearing after a US Department of Homeland Security attorney said the government was dropping its objections.
The agency denied Yousef's asylum request in February 2009, arguing that he had been involved in terrorism and was a threat to the United States.
The immigration judge, Rico Bartolomei, ruled that Yousef will be allowed to remain in the United States after he is fingerprinted and passes a routine background check.
Yousef, who has been living in San Diego, was cheered by supporters as he left the hearing. "I will keep fighting the ideology that is behind terrorists because I know how they think," he said outside the courtroom.
Yousef, 32, said he could not explain the government's abrupt decision, but said authorities may have had second thoughts after reviewing his case more closely...
They got an earful from the public, and perhaps it did some good. This on the day that Yousef has an op-ed published in the Washington Post: Why deport a friend to Middle East peace?
Good grief, and thank heaven.
One wonders, was the State Dept. or the Dept. of Homeland Security positively colluding, directly or indirectly with Hamas, was this - prior to this judge's ruling - somehow a product of Obama-esque "friendship" and "outreach"? Was there some type of anti-religious bias at work?
I hope and trust not, but what on earth could the motives and interests conceivably have been? One wonders, and marvels, at such obtuse or willful dullity of conscience, at such self-blinded reasoning.
Btw, of passing interest for some, perhaps, M/P on Pascal and Buber on the God of the Philosophers.
note this deportation decision happened at the beginning of the obama administration
