This prototype seems OK on smooth interior surfaces—flat floors and slight inclines. How would it do with door sills and surface transitions, as on or off of a rug or carpet or an elevator. How would it do outside on a sidewalk? If you're carrying something with both hands, while riding one of these (as shown starting at 2:56), it would be a awkward if you have to get off to deal with stairs, elevators, escalators or irregular floor surfaces.
Despite the wow-factor, it's hard to imagine it replacing electric go-carts in sprawling factories.

Could something based on this replace the simple, inexpensive "personal transportation device" used in Google's data centers (at about 3:30)? (Or handle floor grates?) The operator's hands are free but, the scooter goes a lot faster.
Besides probably being really expensive if brought to market now, it's not ready for prime-time. But there's a lot of potential.
