It's odd that one of the persons in the film claimed that the Black vote didn't go for Democrats until the time of Kennedy. It was much earlier than that. The Democratic majority voting pattern began with FDR, and it is believed that Truman's segregation reforms prompted African Americans to switch their party membership as well, from GOP to Democrat.

The KKK was a prominent coalition supporter of FDR and the New Deal.
