Welcome Iraq at a glance to the blogosphere. And don't forget to check out Healing Iraq, and The Mesopotamian (who's embarrassed because he misspelled "Messopotamian" [sic] at first). All look like they're going to be well worth keeping up with. All are on the list at left.

It's a new world.

Yes, all three blogs are uplifting. I just hope their opinions are maintained by the majority of Iraqi's. Somehow, I suspect that's not the case. Best JOV

Hard to say. Polling looks good so far. I suspect bloggers generally don't reflect the "common man" all that well, anyway.

Here's to hoping.

If I was a betting man, I would guess 30% in support, 20% opposed and the rest generally undecided. BTW, my father will be flying into Iraq tonight. He's the team lead for maintaining the Air Traffic Control facilities at Baghdad Airport -- imagine a sixty year old man who will be living in a tent for a year.

Hmm...we talking about the same thing? No need to guess, there have been some major polls conducted recently that show large majorities of Iraqis don't want us going anywhere for awhile.

Opinion Journal on the Zogby Poll

Gallup Poll

The Gallup story isn't very complete, but that's what I found on a quick search. There was a third poll from a fairly reliable group, IIRC, that also had similar, fairly positive results.

None of which contradicts your intuitive numbers, necessarily, I suppose...I'd imagine most people withhold judgement as they see how things develope for them, and most people's attitude in a situation like this could be characterized as "soft." Still, that's not a bad thing...cause we're gonna do the right thing by them right? You're dad's helping to do the right thing. Kudos to him, btw. :)

SOLOMON YOU MAY HAVE READ MY COMMENTS AT SIMON OR LGF ALREADY BUT HERE IS SOME COMMENTS FOR YOU, my main man.

RE 60 MINUTES TONIGHT -

1) Forrest Gump Lives! If you saw the story on the real hero in the Lynch saga tonight, the guy was Forrest Gump incarnate! He was hilarious!

2) Suha Arafat is more manly looking in the face, than most men, and I hear she's pretty brutly built as well.

3) Lesley Stah's report was excellent on nailing the Fish and his former accountant, money changer, Mohammad Raschid.

Heheheh. Thanks! Coincidentally, just saw your comment over there. Damn sorry I missed the 60 Minutes episode. I'm VERY glad to hear Leslie Stahl did the right thing. When 60 Minutes makes you look bad - you look BAD.
