Apropos of the story of the Israeli Nobel laureate below, Jonathan Edelstein points out that Haifa University, recent object of the British Association of University Teacher's boycott, has just appointed as a vice-president the first Arab to hold such a position at an Israeli University:
...Professor al-Haj's last sentence neatly encapsulates the reason why, although racism and discrimination exists in Israel, it can't properly be described as an apartheid society. The ceilings in apartheid states are made of steel rather than glass; exclusion is entrenched in the law and enforced by the state. The institutions of government and law can't be used to fight discrimination, because their purpose is to implement discrimination...
This news further demonstrates the absurdity and moral obtuseness of the AUT's boycott.
That article left out mention of the many Jewish VPs and senior faculty at universities in the Arab and Muslim world.
Wait...you mean....there aren't any?
do you mean there aren't any Jews in those positions in arab universities or there aren't any arab universities? LOL.
Not to be tongue and cheek but there are quite a few in the West Bank that were built via Israel's control of the West Bank since 67. One of them is the one referred to as the Suicide factory now and is the place where they had an "art" model of the Sbarros bombing with jewish bodyparts blown in different places and blood and everything.... kids and adults would walk through and admire the model memorializing the Suicide Mass Murder and Maiming of many innocent men, women and children.
There are several in the West Bank that were built unnder Israeli control of the West Bank.
One of which is referred to as a Suicide Factory University and where they had an Art Deco model of the Sbarros Suicide Mass murder.... even with Jewish bodyparts hanging (models) from the ceiling and blood etc...
