NE Republican reports that Massachusetts Congressman Marty Meehan will be holding two town-meeting style events on the Iraq War in Hudson and Concord:

Nearly three years after being misled into war in Iraq, the United States still does not have a plan to succeed and bring our troops home. The Bush Administration says we should stay the course in Iraq. I disagree. But, I want to hear your thoughts.

I'm thinking there'll be a lot of like-minded Volvo drivers showing up.

"I'm thinking there'll be a lot of like-minded Volvo drivers showing up."

All the more reason to show up and expose how hollow their feel good positions are.

"I am not questioning any of my assumptions, but please show up and agree with me."

Marty Meehan is a classic opportunist. I was once at his meeting with defense contractors. If you listened to him you could swear that his is a Republican.
The fault is, of course, with Mass GOP that is not running anybody serious against people like Marty. He was somewhat scared after Romney's victory in 2002, but I guess not anymore. The response to Marty should be a good contender. He is beatable and so is most of the hapless Massachusetts delegation.

Sadly, other than the anomolous ability to run candidates for Governor, the Massachusetts Republican Party is really ill. They never seem to be able to find decent candidates. It's tough to blame them when the state is so knee-jerk liberal and incumbents have such an advantage anyway. Who would want to put themselves on the line, and who would want to donate money to what looks from the beginning like a lost cause?
