I know I'm late with this, but it deserves every posting it can get. This is a letter from the Mayor of Tall 'Afar to the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment. It starts like this...
To the Courageous Men and Women of the 3d Armored Cavalry Regiment, who have changed the city of Tall’ Afar from a ghost town, in which terrorists spread death and destruction, to a secure city flourishing with life.
To the lion-hearts who liberated our city from the grasp of terrorists who were beheading men, women and children in the streets for many months.
To those who spread smiles on the faces of our children, and gave us restored hope, through their personal sacrifice and brave fighting, and gave new life to the city after hopelessness darkened our days, and stole our confidence in our ability to reestablish our city...

How do you know this "letter" is legitimate? We know of course that the DOD has no problem paying Iraqis to write "good news". Aren't you the least bit skeptical? We've done a good job in Tal Afar, but Iraq overall is in terrible shape.
Read the post it came from. If you can't accept that this is genuine, then you could say that about anything and it doesn't seem worth discussing. There is also nothing unexpected about this letter when compared to what both polling and anecdotal evidence say about the attitudes of a great number of ordinary Iraqis.
Please, it's Pentagon war propaganda dissiminated by defendamerica.mil back in mid January:

Now it's making rounds among the lock-stepped military families at the encouragement/direction of our government.
