Another rally for Israel

Join JCRC, San Francisco Voice for Israel, JIMENA, American Jewish Committee for a

Solidarity Rally for Israel outside the Israeli Consulate

TODAY!

Downtown San Francisco: 456 Montgomery Street (between California & Sacramento)

Thursday July 13th @ 4:30 P.M.

Background

In an unprovoked aggression across Israel's internationally recognized border with Lebanon, Hezbullah terrorists launched a salvo of Katyushya rockets and mortar bombs into Israeli towns, farms and villages. Tens of thousands of residents of northern Israel have been forced into bomb shelters all across the north.

At the same time, Hezbullah terrorists crossed the border, and attacked an Israeli patrol killing three soldiers and kidnapping two more. Another five Israeli soldiers were killed in search operations in southern Lebanon.

Rally Details

JCRC, in cooperation with San Francisco Voice forIsrael/Stand With Us, JIMENA, and the American Jewish Committee will rally in support for Israel and its people, and counter the anti-Israel/pro-terrorism voice that will gather outside Israel's consulate.

We will bring Israeli and American flags, pro-Israel signs, and most importantly, the truth to counter the hate and lies of the anti-Israel groups. Our presence is to make certain that the anti-Israel activists cannot push their propaganda on the public unopposed.

Will you join us in this effort?

Please bring your noisemakers, flags, and signs. As always, feel free to make your own signs but please no signs or graphics offensive to any racial or ethnic group including but not limited to Arabs, Islam, or Palestinians. We will ask that such signs be taken down. Ours is not a message of intolerance, but of peace and support for Israel.

Some examples of sign messages:

Demand an end to Palestinian & Hezbullah rocket attacks against Israeli civilians!
Demand the safe return of Cpl Gilad Shalit and the two soldiers taken captive today!
Demand the Palestinian Authority put an end to terror attacks!
Demand the Lebanese government disarm Hezbullah!
Demand an end to the deligitimization and demonization of Israel!
Demand the Palestinian Authority and their local supporters choose peace so that the Palestinian people can have a future!

Organize a rally in your town.

Hometown rallies make the news in local papers.

This can be important, because it encourages people to understand that Jews are not apologizing for defending ourselves, we are proud of Israel for defending itself.

Shalom CAMERA E-Mail Team:

We encourage our members to organize and/or participate in Solidarity With Israel Rallies. There are rallies being held next week in Boston, New York and Chicago (see below for details). Rallies are an important tool to help educate both the media and the public.

Call the media to cover the rally, in an effort to bring awareness to the key issues involved. Work to get pro-Israel government reps and community leaders to speak. If that's not doable, it's also okay to just do a simple street corner demo, with no speakers, just placards, but do try to have at least 10 participants.

Prepare at least 3 people to speak to the media, each with a different soundbyte (see talking points below). These people should not wait to be approached by the reporter, but should approach the reporters on their own, as soon as they see them.

Particularly if the media do not show up for your rally, arrange for someone going to the rally to bring a digital camera . Take photos of people holding pro-Israel signs. Tell them you want to send the photo to their local paper. Ask for their name, town, phone number (so newspaper can verify the photo caption) and the local newspaper's name . That same day, put a caption on the photo, send it to the person's local newspaper and urge that the photo be published.

PLACARD MESSAGES

Placard messages of all sizes are available to download at www.standwithus.com (click on Signs ) . You can also display these signs in the windows of your home and car or tape them onto your T-shirt or backpack to wear. Examples include:

Lebanon, Disarm Your Terrorists Or Israel Will
Lebanon, Stop Hezbollah Rockets
Israel Left Gaza for Peace, Not 800 Rocket Attacks
Hamas is Destroying the Palestinian Future
Hamas, Stop Racist Terrorism, Start Peace
Israel Wants Peace, Hamas Wants War
Israel Offered Peace, Arabs Gave Them War
Stop the Rockets
Stop the Terror
Iran Won't Take Peace for an Answer
Israel is on the Map to Stay
Iran Funds Hamas
Iran Funds Islamic Jihad
Free Gilad, Eldad, and Ehud
We Support Israel

TALKING POINTS

Please use these these talking points not just for rallies, but for letters to the editor as well!
The killing of Israeli soldiers and the kidnapping of Cpl. Gilad Shalit by Hamas are clear acts of war.

The Palestinian attack came after Israel turned over the entire Gaza Strip to the Palestinian Authority (PA) in a bold step for peace. The Palestinians are now using that same territory to launch rockets at Israeli civilians on a daily basis, causing widespread fear and havoc.

Hamas continues to deny Israel's right to exist - a position spelled out in the group's founding charter and repeatedly echoed by its spokesmen and leaders

The killing of Israeli soldiers and the seizing of two more soldiers as hostages by Hezbollah in Northern Israel were also unprovoked acts of war against Israel. This is not just another act of terror.

This strike took place after Israel’s full withdrawal from Lebanon as certified by the U.N. Security Council.

UN Security Council resolution 1559 and subsequent resolutions demand that the Lebanese government disarm the terrorist group Hezbollah, but no steps have been taken. To the contrary, the Lebanese government has included Hezbollah in their government and they are represented at the ministerial level. Hezbollah's actions are a direct threat to the authority of the Lebanese government, to the rule of law and order, and to the wellbeing of Lebanese citizens.

Hezbollah has launched dozens of unprovoked attacks since Israel withdrew from Lebanon, including the firing of hundreds of rockets and mortars at civilian areas and the kidnapping of a number of Israelis.

Syria and Iran are behind these attacks. They are the primary supporters of Hezbollah and Hamas, and they must be pressured as well by the international community.

Like the United States and other sovereign nations, Israel has the right and duty to defend itself from attacks that represent clear acts of war -such as the killing and kidnapping of its citizens and ongoing rocket attacks.

Israel's actions are being carefully implemented and are aimed at securing the release of its soldiers and destroying the abilities of Hamas and Hezbollah to threaten its citizens with ongoing barrages of rockets.

Israel does its utmost not to harm civilians, but in a war where Hamas and Hezbollah hide among the civilian population, civilians will inevitably be killed. Israel should not be held to a standard of perfection while the Arab countries and terror organizations are held to no standard at all.

(These talking points are largely, but not wholly, based on those sent by the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations)

Gators for Israel

It's particularly nice to see a rally in a college town.

The rally was good - the AMCHA rally outside the Syrian Embassy in New York.

Rabbi Avi Weiss spoke movingly, two congressmen spoke movingly, lots of press.

Hope there will be even bigger turnouts elsewhere.

Thousands rally to support Israel

Several thousand protesters descended upon the United Nations in New York to show American support for Israel.
Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.), Nobel laureate Elie Wiesel and Israeli’s ambassador to the United Nations, Dan Gillerman, were among the speakers who spoke Monday in defense of Israel’s actions and its campaign to fight terror.

Clinton condemned the “unwarranted, unprovoked attacks from Hamas, Hezbollah and their state sponsors” and called these groups "the new totalitarians of the 21st century.” She added: “We will stand with Israel because Israel is standing for American values as well as Israeli ones,” she told the crowd.

Several protesters required medical attention because of the extreme heat.

When my Community told me about this rally’s I have contacted all of my contacts and many will show up at Capitol Sacramento on July 18th.
I have forwarded the .doc to my sister in law in Bakersfield whose husband is a well known and respected over there! She already responded that she has taken action her end.

Rallying for Israel everwhere!

Nice to see the link with photos form Chicago.

Looking forward to seeing the photos from boston tonight.

i see that the photo link didnt mention all the pro-israelis stickin up middle fingers and swearin at the pro-peace side.

Also, there was only one arrest. A pro-israeli who threw a water bottle at the pro-peace group.

Good job with the propaganda tho

Pro-peace? You mean the hate-filled people holding sign that read "Israel is Insane" and that well-known symbol of peaceful co-existence the Palestinian flag were pro-peace?

What church was that? Anyone recognize the church where the pro-terrorism types with standing on the balcony in the photos at http://atlasshrugs2000.typepad.com/atlas_shrugs/

"i see that the photo link didnt mention all the pro-israelis stickin up middle fingers and swearin at the pro-peace side."

how else would you expect to be greeted?

"Also, there was only one arrest. A pro-israeli who threw a water bottle at the pro-peace group."

why lie about it? are arrests secret? a pro-jihad demonstrator was arrested after she crossed over and threatened a pro-israeli crowd member with her crutch.

"Good job with the propaganda tho"

thnx

Good pick up Jummy

After all, the police aren't there to keep an eye on the pro-Israel demonstrators. It's the anti-Semites with the "Free Palestine" signs they worry about. At the rally I went to on Sunday, there were no anti-Semites, only Israel supporters and police. At Rabbi Weiss's sugggestion, we all gave a hand of grateful applause to the police.

Were you there?

Do you know what the name of the church was?

in new york? no.

its an election year, of course some politicians are trying to win over the zionist voters by showing their "support" for israel.....

"It's the anti-Semites with the "Free Palestine" signs they worry about."

hahaha, ahh, u zionists crack me up. Still using that old anti-semite excuse. The zionist speakers probably mentioned the Holacaust like 5 times on Monday to somehow justify their actions...thats total irresponsibility and a spit in the face to all the victims of Nazi crimes

maybe if u opened a dictionary and looked up what SEMITE actually means, u could probably come up with a better argument. If saying 'free palestine' is anti-semitic, somebody sign me up so i could get a phone call from the ADL.
