United States Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said that the United States is not interested at this point in a cease fire that would allow Hizbullah and the Hamas to violate it by firing rockets toward Israel.
Rice also said during the interview that this is not the time for it, and there is need to impose UN resolution 1559 that calls for disarming all the militias in southern Lebanon. (Yitzhak Benhorin, Washington)
Via the excellent coverage at PJM where there's a ton more stuff.
Condi, perhaps because she is presently the lead diplomat and not the lead executive, has not been consistent here, but this definitely is a clear-headed statement. Likewise for the President recently, Gingrich over the weekend and a few others.
What is absolutely important now is to avoid the languange of moral equivalence, tergiversations, etc. and instead to be 100% clear-headed and resolute in terms of the language, the articulations used, to describe what is occurring on the ground in Gaza and Labanon with Hamas and Hezbollah and what is occurring politically/tactically in Syria and Iran. Forward thinking and clear-headed articulations on the offense, including putting those who are articulating moral equivalencies, morally obtuse initiatives, on the defense.

The language of Benny Morris, here recently, is but one good example.
(It is particularly sad, indeed it's particularly pathetic, to listen to the language being used by the Dems and Left/Dems at this time.)
