Emailer Adam Holland writes:

Today, NPR broadcast a commentary by Cornel West in the course of which West praised Farrakhan as an opponent of bigotry and put him on the short list of his favorite African-American leaders. The interveiwer did not disagree or comment in any way.

Is it too much to ask NPR to restrain itself from promoting this anti-Semitic, home-grown religious fascist? Farrakhan's history is so notorious I don't think it necessary to elaborate.. (He distributes the Protocols, and falsified histories blaming Jews for slavery, he promotes bizarre conspiracy theories involving Jews and Israel, promotes violence, homophobia, etc.)

The audio.

The cluelessness of some people with respect to Farrakhan is a shocking analogue to what's going on in Europe. He is so clearly ultra-reactionary, racist, homophobic, sexist, with fascist overtones. Yet there's Cornel West calling him a progressive! Good God...how oblivious can Cornel West and Tavis Smiley be?
