Oh...my...God...a letter writer to the Eagle-Tribune compares Wheels of Justice/International Solidarity Movement rapper cum human shield Joe Carr/Smith to...Jesus (second letter). And yet it was we, the audience, feeling crucified:

In attendance at the awe-inspiring Wheels of Justice presentation the evening of Jan. 5 at Andover High School, I watched Joe Carr perform his poem about the murder by Israeli soldiers of the American, Rachel Corrie. It called to mind a young Jesus, brimming with youth, strength and intelligence, teaching integrity, going to dangerous places and speaking truth to the powerful, calling attention to injustice and doing it gracefully enough that he silenced the hecklers in the crowd.

In fact, the referenced segment of Carr's presentation was the only time that the hecklers were silent. Perhaps this is because Joe Carr, in powerfully reciting his poem, brought transparency to the issue...

The sound of silence was brought about by the audience's dropped jaws and nervous and uncomfortable shuffling of feet...certainly not by any sense of awe, I assure you.

No qualms, no shame, no hesitancy in the least - nada, nil, zil, zero - in appropriating the most germinal aspects of language in order to forward the latest, presumptive moral trump card and trumpery. This is reflective of Nietzsche's "Genealogy of Morals" taken to its exhausted, fantasist end, without so much as looking back once.

By contrast, any Christian with a conscience and I suspect most non-Christians who are not possessed of a more irrational hostility, are going to hesitate a great deal, to say the least, before appropriating "a young Jesus, brimming with youth, strength and intelligence, teaching integrity, going to dangerous places and speaking truth to the powerful," in point of fact a rather hilarious appropriation by most any standards, essentially in the mode of a Mel Brookes comedy.

The good thing about this type of unembarrassed appropriation is that it very much reflects the fractured and at times farcical structures of the Left's semiotics more generally. There for all to see, excepting for the willfully and happily self-blinded.

I'd pay to watch and read clowns like this! Seriously! Yet, I get it for free! Jesus rocks, dude! What a country!!!!!

Which is funnier: the fact that a letter-writer was dumb enough to compare Joe Carr to Jesus, or the fact that the Eagle-Tribune printed it?

"Rap" is "Crap".

Would this be the same Joseph Smith who is credited with snapping the "before" pictures that showed one kind of tank that Reuters mixed into the sequence with the tank that actually did back over Ms. Corrie, which was of a very different model, that did not afford the same range of vision as the first?

If so, a few years ago, I checked out his blogsite (link courtesy of Honest Reporting). This Joe Smith's account acknowledged shock and disbelief that the tank had not stopped soon enough to avoid Ms. Corrie as in all other instances, they had managed too. Of course the two obvious thoughts that might have occurred to someone not thoroughly indoctrinated by the PSM/ISM is that it was what the Israeli inquest found -- an accident that resulted from the limited rear vision, and not an experiment in targetted killing.
