These policies have failed and have allowed the problem to worsen to the point where terrorism and extremism is even harder to crack. In the past, it was assumed that foreign preachers' support for terrorism abroad was "acceptable" as long as it did not take place on British soil. We know now that such preachers have influenced Muslim terrorists to attack Britain. The genie that was let out of the bottle in the 1990s cannot be stuffed back where it came from...'
