This is just a quick link to follow -- an "aside." These are links to interesting things that, for one reason or another, I didn't place into a full posting. Click the link to visit the full article. Go to the blog index for a regular listing of posts.

Raymond Ibrahim: Respecting the Faithful vs. Respecting the Faith - '...let us respect everyone's right to believe what they will; however, let us at least be sincere to our own convictions. It's one thing to let political correctness stifle free speech; it's quite another to let it stifle the development of our very own thought processes, to the point that we fail to connect such clear dots in the privacy of our own minds...'

Respecting the faith is a hard thing on Mr.raymond....we can understand it. he cant respect islam. he likes to respect himself only.
by the way if he read daniel pipes sudden jihad syndrome he may change his views on respecting the faithfuls.

Its like a bank resepcting a depositer, even if he is part of a mafia gang.

isnt this flawed?! seriously there is a deep contradiction in viewing things in this manner.

anyways in islam we respect the "faiths", and the prophets and the books of the others. this makes us automaticaly respect the faithfulls, who are the people of the book.

thats why a muslim man is allowed to marry a non-muslim, because he respects her faith, and he ofcourse respects her because he chose to marry her. while on the other hand a non-muslim is not allowed to mary a muslim women because he wont respect her relgion, propher or laws.
