Oceanguy: Depressed … Need Help - '...The conversation drifted from anecdote to anecdote of folks playing the system… “beatin’ the man.” And for two or three minutes I got the feeling we were discussing the fraud and waste and that it needed to be trimmed and reformed. Boy was I wrong. Gradually the discussion became about specific ideas… filing separately and having the low/no wage earning spouse apply for the subsistence/financial aid/scholarships/grants. It becaame about how ’so and so’ gets over on the system and how ’so and so’s’ family connection the the State office helped the scammers play the system so everyone could grab what they could. When I realized that the conversation was not about fraud and waste, but about “I’m not getting everything I can get. I work harder than so and so, I deserve at least some of what so and so gets,” it turned my stomach...' [You work, you pay taxes, your neighbors cheat like hell...]
