This is just a quick link to follow -- an "aside." These are links to interesting things that, for one reason or another, I didn't place into a full posting. Click the link to visit the full article. Go to the blog index for a regular listing of posts.
Jeff Jacoby: Held hostage in North Korea - '...Worst off are the hundreds of thousands of North Koreans trapped in Kim's horrific slave-labor gulag. Inmates in these slow-death camps -- to which men, women, and children are sent for such "crimes" as complaining about living conditions or neglecting to dust the dictator's picture -- are routinely murdered through starvation, torture, or brutal forced labor. The few refugees to have escaped report unspeakable horrors: Pregnant women killed and their fetuses fed to dogs. Children impaled on hooks and dangled over a fire. Whole families used as guinea pigs to test chemical weapons. And more. In the hands of the savages who preside over such malignance are two American women, journalists arrested while giving voice to the voiceless. Laura Ling and Euna Lee deserve better from their countrymen than apathy and inattention. Do something to help them: Spread the word. Sign a petition. Attend a vigil. You can start at LauraandEuna.com.' [North Korea: World's largest open-air prison.]
Bingo, yet it's all Israel all the time, 24/7, at least it can seem that way, and with Israel and the M.E. it's done via systematic deceits, in perpetuity, repeatedly, as if on a single loop mobius strip. (E.g., the refugee situation we're all familiar with, though that's one example only of so many that come to mind.)
Meanwhile, the state of North Korea indulges these inhumanities, these atrocities, and it is rare to hear it on the news whatsoever, not a peep, at least rarely so.
