This is just a quick link to follow -- an "aside." These are links to interesting things that, for one reason or another, I didn't place into a full posting. Click the link to visit the full article. Go to the blog index for a regular listing of posts.

Dick Morris: U.K. Cancer Death Rate Is 38% Higher Than In U.S. - '...In 2008, Britain had a cancer death rate 0.25% while the United States had a rate of only 0.18%. The UK cancer death rate was 38% higher than in the United States. The Guardian, the UK’s left wing daily, estimated that “up to 10,000 people” are dying each year of cancer “because their condition is diagnosed too late, according to research by the government’s director of cancer services.” While many people die because of late detection due to their own negligence, there is no reason to believe this self-neglect is more common in the UK than in the US. In Canada, the cancer death rate is 16% higher than in the United States.'

I don't get it. What's the point? Socialized medicine is herego BAD?

The point is that our health care system has better outcomes. The UK and Canada are two developed countries with nationalized health care, albeit with two different models. Hmmm. Politically mandated screening and treatment regimens, or in the case of the UK gummint administered rationing, isn't as good as medical care in the USA. Coincidence? I think not.

The Brit and Canook story is what's in store for us if we adopt Obamacare. In the meantime, the UK is about to privatizing, and Canadians who don't want to wait forever for to consult a specialist or have an elective surgery, if they can afford it, come south and pay out of pocket.
