This is just a quick link to follow -- an "aside." These are links to interesting things that, for one reason or another, I didn't place into a full posting. Click the link to visit the full article. Go to the blog index for a regular listing of posts.
When your country is in trouble, blame the Jews - 'Blaming the Jews never, ever, gets old. You know who's responsible for the Greek financial crisis? If you said the idiots who decided that a worker's paradise wouldn't bankrupt the state, you're wrong! Everyone knows it's the Jews! Listen to this batshit crazy priest on Greek national TV...'
If you think it beyond outrageous that archbishops (Metropolites) of the Greek Orthodox Church, who are at least as important/powerful in Greece as the Catholic archbishop of a major US city, should spout such rank antisemitism, then you can chose to protest or to say nothing. I favor the former, and used the website of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America to convey my thinking to the church hierarchy here in the US. If enough people do the same, perhaps they will get the point. The website has all the necessary contact info for this purpose, including NYC mailing address. phone and fax numbers, and email contact. http://www.goarch.org/archdiocese/contact
The antisemites (e.g., "jewtribe") are applauding these Greek Orthodox clergy for their antisemitic outpourings. Shouldn't anti-antisemites make themselves known?
